North Georgia looking for third straight road series win
ST. AUGUSTINE, FL - North Georgia College & State University used a five-hit masterpiece by James Wiley along with 11 hits from the offense in rout to a 5-0 shutout of Flagler College Thursday afternoon in non-conference action.
North Georgia jumped on top in the opening frame with a pair of runs on three hits. Craig Brisson led off the game with a double down the left field line, and Josh Tate followed with a double of his own to left center to plate Brisson for a 1-0 lead. Two batters later, Andre Airich lined a single up the middle to bring Tate home from first and give the Saints a 2-0 first inning lead.
Anders Oster would lead things off in the fifth inning with a double to left-center, to set up another run for the Saints. Kevin Morrison moved Oster to third with a fly to right, and Brisson reached on an error to score Oster and make it 3-0 in the fifth inning. Airich followed in the eighth inning with his second RBI single up the middle, scoring Josh Tate for the second time in the game for a 4-0 advantage. Brisson added an insurance run in the ninth with a two-out double to right center to give the Saints a 5-0 road win.
James Wiley would settle in and toss a complete game five-hit shutout to pick up the win. He allowed five hits and struck out four in his fourth complete game of the season.
North Georgia (36-19) will look to take three out of four from Flagler with a 2:00 p.m. match up tomorrow afternoon at Flagler Stadium.
