DAHLONEGA, GA – North Georgia College & State University managed just three runs on as many hits in a 6-3 defeat to in-state rival Emory University Tuesday evening under the lights at Bob Stein Stadium in non-conference action.

The Saints fall to 29-23 on the year as their season-long five-game winning streak comes to an end, while the Eagles improve to 24-18 with the victory.

Emory struck first in the second inning as Andrew Cohn coaxed a walk and later scored on a sacrifice fly for the first run of the game.  Jeremy Bolian provided the RBI, driving in his 15th run of the year with the fly out to right center.

With a zero flashing in the hit column for the Saints in the last of the fourth inning, Jordan Erisman and Andre Airich forced walks to bring Brad Hall to the dish who delivered his 13 home run of the year, sending a blast to straight away center that just cleared the fence and gave North Georgia their first lead of the game at 3-1.

The Eagles came back in the eighth with five runs on four hits to take a 6-3 lead. Steve Bralver and Marc Terranova notched back-to-back singles to drive in the first two runs of the inning, and after a walk forced in the go-ahead run, Tommy Dugan lined a double to left center to score two more runs and cap the six-run inning.

North Georgia loaded the bases in the bottom half of the eighth with no outs, but the Emory pitching staff followed and struck out the side to preserve the three-run lead. 

Will Gumm (1-0) picked up the victory in relief, tossing 1.0 inning with all zeros, while Zeb Heidt came on in the ninth for his seventh save of the season.

North Georgia ran seven pitchers to the hill as Jacob Rickett (4-2) was tagged with the loss, allowing two hits and three runs, all earned, while walking two.

The Saints return to action over the weekend, hosting Flagler College for a three-game set. Game one is set for Friday evening at 7:00 p.m., with a 3:00 p.m. first pitch slated for Saturday, and 1:00 p.m. regular season finale scheduled for Sunday afternoon. North Georgia went 2-1 last season against Flagler, dropping the opener, before taking the final two games of the series on the road in St. Augustine, Florida.
