North Georgia Completes Sweep of Flagler College
DAHLONEGA, GA – North Georgia College
& State University continued a trend of the weekend, scoring
early as the Saints completed a three-game sweep of Flagler College
Sunday afternoon with a 4-1 victory in non-conference action at Bob
Stein Stadium.
North Georgia improves to 32-23, winning their third straight and
eight of their last nine games, while Flagler College falls to
17-36 overall.
Chad Sage gave North Georgia the lead in the second inning, sending
a leadoff homer to straight away center for the first run of the
game. In the third, Brad Hall delivered a perfect hit and run
single through the side to plate Craig Brisson, and Logan Sharrett
came to the dish later in the inning and coaxed a bases loaded walk
to give North Georgia a 3-0 lead.
Flagler scored their first run of the series in the seventh inning,
a double to left center off the bat of Jarrod Simmons to plate
Payne Maddox and make it 3-1. North Georgia responded with a run of
their own in the last of the seventh, using Hall’s third hit
of the day to bring Erisman home for a 4-1 lead.
Tyler Musslewhite (5-1) picked up the victory on senior day,
allowing eight hits and one run while striking out 10 in 7.2
innings of work.
John Goryl (0-4) took the loss for Flagler in the finale, tossing
7.0 innings and allowing four runs on eight hits while walking
three and striking out seven.
North Georgia returns to action next weekend on the campus of USC
Aiken at the 2009 Peach Belt Conference Baseball Tournament as the
Saints will look to repeat as Tournament Champions, entering the
tournament as the #4 seed for the second consecutive year.
