MILLEDGEVILLE, GA – North Georgia College
& State University managed just two hits Friday evening as the
7th-ranked Saints fell 5-1 to Georgia College & State
University in Peach Belt Conference action.
The Saints fall to 15-9 overall and 7-3 in the PBC, while the
Bobcats improve to 15-6 overall and 5-2 in the league.
The Bobcats jumped on North Georgia early, getting two in the
bottom of the first. Designated hitter Buddy Elmore ripped a
one-out double to score both Derek Johns and Sean Harrell
GCSU tacked three more on in the second, when Harrell singled home
Matt Pitts who had also reached on a single. A bases-loaded balk
scored another run, and the scoring was capped by a run-scoring
groundout.
North Georgia picked up a run in the fifth as Chad Sage scored on a
fielder’s choice, but the Saints were unable to produce
anymore runs, tallying just two hits on the day in the 5-1
defeat.
James Wiley (1-2) suffered the loss, lasting 7.1 innings and
allowing all five Bobcat runs on 11 hits while striking out
four.
