Saints Picked by Coaches to Finish 2nd in PBC

AUGUSTA, GA – The North Georgia baseball team is picked to finish second in the Peach Belt Conference according to the 2009 preseason coaches poll released Tuesday afternoon from the conference office.

North Georgia won their first PBC Tournament title last year as the #4 seed and are second in the preseason poll. The Saints return 20 players from last year’s team including eight pitchers and five position starters including All-Conference outfielder Craig Brisson, PBC Tournament MVP Logan Sharrett, and All-Region Gold Glove Winners Anders Oster and Andre Airich.

The Saints find themselves ranked 17th in the country in the ABCA Division II preseason top 25 released two weeks ago by the American Baseball Association. The Saints ended last season ranked 20th in the nation in the year’s final poll after going 41-21 overall and 16-11 in the PBC.

North Georgia will open their 2009 campaign on February 6, hosting Pfeiffer University to kickoff a stretch of nine games in 13 days for the Saints.
