DAHLONEGA, GA – The North Georgia
baseball team remains in the top 10 as they find themselves #7 in
the latest 2009 Collegiate Baseball Magazine Division II Top 30
Poll released Monday afternoon.
The Saints went 3-2 last week, splitting a two-game series during
the week with Carson-Newman, before coming home and taking two out
of three from in-state rival Columbus State University over the
weekend.
With the Saints coming in at #7, this marks the 12th consecutive
poll North Georgia has appeared in dating back to April 21, 2008
where they came in at #24.
North Georgia remains at the top of the Peach Belt Conference
standings, posting a 7-2 mark through the first three weekends to
hold a full game lead on Francis Marion University who is currently
ranked #11 with a 6-3 conference mark.
Coach Cantrell and his staff will welcome Catawba College to Bob
Stein Stadium for single games on Tuesday and Wednesday before
heading out of town for a three-game weekend series at Georgia
College & State University.
The Catawba Indians are 9-5 overall and 4-1 in the South Atlantic
Conference, having won six of their last seven contests, including
a pair of wins at Carson-Newman last month.
GCSU will be ready to take on the Saints after North Georgia swept
the Bobcats last season in Dahlonega. North Georgia also used extra
innings to slip by GCSU 10-9 in the PBC Tournament last year and
are 6-1 against the Bobcats in the last two seasons.
