DAHLONEGA, GA – The North Georgia College
& State University baseball team finds themselves ranked 17th
in the country in the ABCA Division II Preseason top 25 released by
the American Baseball Coaches Association.
The Saints ended last season ranked 20th in the nation in the
year’s final poll after going 41-21 overall and 16-11 in the
PBC, including capturing their first-ever Peach Belt Conference
Tournament Championship, and making an appearance in the NCAA
Tournament.
The Saints return 20 players from last season, including
All-Region performer Craig Brisson, PBC Tournament MVP Logan
Sharrett, and All-Region Gold Glove Winners Anders Oster and Andre
Airich.
Mount Olive College, who put an end to North Georgia’s
season in the second round of the NCAA South Atlantic Regional,
find themselves atop the pre-season poll after capturing the 2008
National Championship.
North Georgia will open their 2009 campaign on February 6, hosting
Pfeiffer University to kickoff a stretch of nine games in 13 days
for the Saints.
