Complete Poll

DAHLONEGA, GA – The North Georgia baseball team jumped two spots to No. 17 in the country in the latest Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Division II Top 30 poll released on Monday afternoon.

The Saints are 29-14 overall on the season after a week that saw the program take three of four games, including two of three in a weekend series at Augusta State. North Georgia opened the week at home against Emory University and rallied from a two-run deficit early for a 4-3 victory over the Eagles in non-conference action.

North Georgia then traveled to ASU and took a wild one 8-7 in the opener, scoring four runs in the ninth and one more in the 10th inning to rally late and come away with the series opening victory. Game two was a bit of a different story as Augusta State scored in a pair of innings for a 4-2 victory to split the doubleheader.

In the rubber game of the weekend set on Sunday afternoon, the Saints were at it again, pounding out 14 hits and scoring 12 runs to crush the Jaguars 12-1 and take the series. Chad Sage had the game of the day, going 3-for-4 with a home run, four runs batted in, and two runs scored. The junior launched his team-leading 12th home run of the year as part of a three-run six inning.

Francis Marion continues to rise in the polls as the highest ranked Peach Belt team at No. 5, followed by GCSU at No. 10, and Columbus State at No. 13. Following the Saints at No. 17 is UNC Pembroke who dropped a pair of games over the weekend to the now 5th-ranked Patriots.

The Saints currently sit second in the Peach Belt Conference’s west division, as they will spend the next two weekends in non-conference play before traveling to the PBC tournament in Aiken, South Carolina, May 8-9.

North Georgia returns to action on Wednesday afternoon, welcoming West Georgia to town for a non-conference match-up with the Wolves. First pitch is set for 5:00 p.m. at Bob Stein Stadium. The Saints traveled to Carrollton, Ga., earlier in the season and topped their in-state rival 7-3.
