Box Score

TUSCALOOSA, AL – With North Georgia on the verge of their first series sweep of the season, Stillman pitchers came out and recorded 15 strikeouts in the seven inning finale to steal a 4-1 victory away from the Saints Tuesday evening in non-conference action.

In a game designated to be a 7-inning series finale and the second game of a doubleheader, North Georgia was unable to come up with enough offense as the Saints fall to 3-3 on the season, taking two of three from the Tigers.

North Georgia jumped on top in the opening inning, taking advantage of an error as Sage guided a two-out single up the middle, bringing Craig Brisson racing home from second to give the Saints a 1-0 lead.

Stillman would answer in the second inning as Kyle McCreles doubled to left center with the bases jammed, bringing home three runs to give the Tigers the lead. Stillman added another run in the fourth frame as Dion Bryant led off the inning with a triple and later came in to score on a two-out double by McCreles to give the Tigers a 4-1 advantage.

North Georgia had a chance to start a rally in the seventh, using a double by Brisson to get a runner in scoring position, but a groundout to third and strikeout ended the game with Stillman salvaging a 4-1 victory in the finale.

Nick Bumstead was the winner for Stillman, tossing 6.0 innings allowing just two hits and one run while striking out 13 North Georgia batters. Hampton Gribbs came on to pick up the save in the seventh, recording a pair of strikeouts of his own and allowing one hit.

Jesse Coxwell (0-1) suffered the loss, unable to locate the zone as the sophomore gave up three runs on three hits while walking five in just 1.2 innings of work. Garrett Smith and Justin Yackee came on in relief and combined to allow four hits and one run over the final 4.1 innings.

North Georgia returns to action over the weekend at home, hosting Bellarmine University in a four-game set at Bob Stein Stadium.
