Saints Run By Stillman 17-3, Eye Series Sweep
TUSCALOOSA, AL
– The North Georgia baseball team continued to overpower
Stillman College in game one of a doubleheader on Tuesday
afternoon, scoring 17 runs on as many hits on their way to taking
down the Tigers 17-3 in non-conference action.
The Saints get back over the .500 mark on the season at 3-2 on the
young year, taking the first two games of the series from Stillman
and setting the table for a chance at the clubs first sweep of the
2010 campaign.
With the score tied at two runs apiece heading to the fifth inning,
the Saints broke the game wide open with a seven spot to take the
lead for good. Craig Brisson and Andre Airich started the rally
with RBI singles early in the inning, while Troy Snitker continued
to swing a hot bat and drive in a pair later in the frame with a
double, and Brad Hall singled to left to cap the monster
inning.
North Georgia came right back in the sixth inning and tallied four
more runs on five hits to stake their claim to an 11-run lead at
13-2. Airich tripled home a pair of runs, while Chad Sage launched
his third home run of the season, a two-run blast to put a lid on
the four-run inning.
The Saints had one more offensive outburst, this time coming in the
ninth with another four spot as Airich and Denver Stovall both
recorded a pair of runs batted in on doubles down the left field
line to give the Saints a 17-3 victory.
Airich finished the day with four hits, three runs scored, and five
runs batted in, while Hall added three hits on six trips to the
plate while driving in a run.
Blake Hobby (1-0) picked up his first victory of the season, going
8.0 innings and allowing just five hits and two runs, both earned,
while striking out four and not allowing a free pass.
