DAHLONEGA, GA – The North Georgia Sports Information Office announced on Tuesday afternoon the scheduling of live preseason preview shows for the nationally ranked North Georgia baseball and softball teams will be held next week at local restaurants.

The shows will be hosted by Rusty Brown, the voice of the Saints for the 2009-10 season and he will be joined by Sports Information Director David Beall to interview players and coaches and give fans an inside look into both programs.

The softball show will be held on Tuesday, February 2, 2010, at 7:00 p.m. live from Roosters Cafe in Dahlonega as 10th year head coach Mike Davenport and selected players will be on hand to join the show and speak with selected members of the media. Fans are encouraged to attend, meet their favorite athlete, and pick up a free autographed poster at the event. Fans can also have their picture taken with North Georgia players and the 2009 NCAA Regional Championship Trophy.

The baseball show will take place two days later on Thursday, February 4, 2010, at 7:00 p.m. live from Shenanigan’s Irish Pub in downtown Dahlonega as Rusty and David welcome 11th year head coach tom Cantrell and a group of players to the show. Members of the media are encouraged to attend and talk with players, while fans are welcome to join the live event to pick up an autographed pocket schedule card. 

The Saints baseball program was picked to finish third in the Peach Belt Conference in 2010, while the national poll has North Georgia ranked in the top 25 yet again, coming in at #24 in the preseason College Baseball Newspaper NCAA Division II poll.

The softball team has been picked to win the Peach Belt Conference for the second consecutive year and will find out in the coming days where the national voters place the Saints after being one of the final three teams standing at the 2009 Division II College World Series.

The baseball team opens their season on Friday, February 5, hosting Pfeiffer for three-game set over the weekend, while the softball team will play their season opener on Saturday, February 6, at the Aiken Early Bird Tournament.
