PENSACOLA, FL – The North Georgia baseball team dropped their third straight game on Wednesday afternoon falling 13-5 to West Florida at Jim Spooner Field.
The Saints (18-20) pounded out 16 hits in defeat, while the Argos (26-12) avenged a two-game sweep to North Georgia last season.
West Florida responded in the home half, roughing up North Georgia starter Chip Fleming and scoring three runs on four hits. The Argos were back at it in the second, plating two more runs and chasing Fleming from the game.
North Georgia cut the deficit to just three in top of the third when Matthew Black hit an RBI groundout to second.
The Argos would pull away in the middle innings as they tagged the Saints bullpen for three runs in the fifth and five in the sixth.
The Saints plated a run in each of the seventh and ninth innings courtesy of a pair of RBI hits from Jones.
North Georgia returns to the diamond this weekend, April 14-15, when they head Alabama, for a series with Peach Belt Conference foe Montevallo.
