Bellavance Named to Capital One Academic All-District 3 Team

 TOWSON, Md. - University of North Georgia senior baseball player Kenny Bellavance added to his already impressive resume Thursday afternoon as he was named to the 2013 Capital One Academic All-District 3 Team as voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Bellavance is one of six student-athletes from the Peach Belt Conference to earn the award this season joining Ryan Milewski, Ty Barkell and Bill Gerstenslager from the University of South Carolina Aiken along with Young Harris College's David Atwood and Francis Marion University's Dalton Gress.

First‐team Academic All‐District honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All‐America Team ballot, where first‐, second‐ and third‐team All‐America honorees will be selected later this month.

A senior from Stone Mountain, Ga., Bellavance boasts a 3.97 grade point average as a Business Finance major and is a four-year starter for head coach Tom Cantrell's program. Last week, he was named North Georgia's 2013 Male Scholar Athlete as well as the Senior Athlete of the Year. A two-time PBC All-Academic Team selection and two-time PBC Gold Level Scholar Athlete, he is a member of the Beta Alpha Psi Accounting and Finance Honor Society as well as the Beta Gamma Sigma Honors Society and is a member of North Georgia's Mike Cottrell College of Business Honors Program.

Bellavance has made his mark on the baseball program as being one of the most balanced student-athletes to put on the Saints jersey. Along with his numerous academic awards listed above, Bellavance also boasts a .326 career batting average in 176 starts off 234 hits that includes 25 doubles, five triples, two home runs, 117 runs batted in and 117 runs scored. His 20 career sacrifice hits has him fifth all-time in school history. In 2010, he was named to the Daktronics All-Region team and backed that up by earning All-Region honors from both Daktronics and the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) in 2011. He is also a two-time All-PBC selection and was named to the PBC's Preseason All-Conference Team prior to the 2012 season.

The 2013 Capital One Academic All‐District Baseball Teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, have been released to recognize the nation's top student‐athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Capital One has been the entitlement rights holder to CoSIDA's Academic All‐America teams programs since 2011.

The Capital One Division II and III Academic All‐America program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures, to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2012‐13 DII and DIII Academic All‐America teams program.
