DAHLONEGA, Ga. – Every year schools within NCAA Division II work together to raise money for the Make-A-Wish foundation in a collaborative effort to make dreams come true for children with life threatening illnesses and that effort usually starts each year with the “Week of Wishes.”
The annual campaign is currently on-going through Monday, Oct. 15 on the North Georgia College & State University campus.
Donations can be made all week with Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) representatives from the various sports or fans can make donations at the soccer games held on campus this Wednesday, Oct. 10. Stars to show your support can be purchased for as little as $1 or for as much as someone wishes to contribute.
At this Wednesday’s soccer games, not only will fans be donating to a worthy cause, they will also be entered into a drawing to win prizes.
In nine years of sponsoring Make-A-Wish, Division II has raised more than $2.4 million.
Last year, schools within NCAA Division II came together to raise close to half a million dollars, $468,569.35 to be exact, for the Make-A-Wish foundation led by their respective Student-Athlete Advisory Committees (SAAC).
The North Georgia SAAC raised the most funds in all of Division II for the Make-A-Wish foundation, eclipsing the previous year’s mark by nearly $2,000. NGCSU raised $12,000, a PBC record, and was the only PBC school to meet the five-digit mark in the annual campaign.
