DAHLONEGA, GA - North Georgia College and State
University received word last week that two student-athletes have
been selected to participate in the 2009 NCAA National
Student-Athlete Development Conference.
Lauren Schenk and Santiago Pinzon were selected to participate in
the conference, which takes place May 24-27 in Orlando, Florida, at
the Walt Disney World Coronado Spring Resort. The conference
is open to all student-athletes at NCAA member institutions.
Each division had the opportunity to send 233 student-athletes to
the national conference.
Lauren Schenk, an Exercise Science major, has a 3.22 cumulative
grade point average and was a 2008 Second-Team All-PBC selection
and Third-Team PBC All-Academic in 2008. She tallied 22
points for the Lady Saints in 2008. She recorded nine goals and
four assists on the season. She had one game-winning goal and was a
perfect 1-1 in Penalty kicks. Schenk played and started in 15
games, logging 1131 minutes, and recorded 29 shots, including 21
shots on goal.
Santiago Pinzon, a Business Marketing major has a 3.44 cumulative
grade point average. Pinzon played 281 minutes in 2008 with a
shot on goal percentage of .500. The junior midfielder is
from Cali, Columbia and prepped at Riverside Academy. In
2007, Pinzon played in 17 matches, starting 13 as a sophomore where
he recorded one goal in 10 shots and four shots on goal.
