North Georgia honors four seniors before
game
DAHLONEGA, GA – North Georgia College & State
University looked to win their fifth straight game as they took a
four-point lead into the break, but fell 90-85 to 8th-ranked
Augusta State University Saturday evening in Peach Belt Conference
action.
ASU improves to 21-4 on the season and 16-2 in the Peach Belt
Conference with the five-point win. AJ Bowman led all scores with
24 points while grabbing a game-high 11 rebounds. Nick Pope led the
Saints with 23 points, while Xavier Trice added 21. Both teams had
four players in double-digits, and ASU shot 44-percent from the
field while North Georgia was close behind at 42-percent.
The Jaguars led by as many as seven points on two different
occasions in the first half, but a late run by the Saints and two
straight buckets by Andre Morgan gave North Georgia a 37-33
halftime advantage.
Augusta State took the lead less than two minutes into the second
half and never trailed again. The Saints found themselves down by
11 points with under two minutes remaining, but a furry of late
baskets cut the lead to just four, but time ran out on the Saints
who drop their first contest in more than two weeks with the 90-85
loss to the Jaguars.
North Georgia (16-10, 11-8 PBC) will head to Lander University on
Wednesday, February 27, for a 7:30 p.m. Peach Belt Conference
match-up against the Bearcats for the last regular season game of
the year.
