DAHLONEGA, GA – North Georgia College & State University got 22 points from Andre Morgan in a 94-84 win over Columbus State University here Wednesday evening in Peach Belt Conference action.

North Georgia came out scoring early and took a four-point lead at the 16:11 mark on a jumper by Anthony Rowe to make it 10-6. Nick Pope gave the Saints their largest lead of the half at the 5:43 mark on a driving lay-up to make it 36-25, but the Cougars would not go away and Miguel Morton knocked down a jumper just before the break to make it a 43-38 North Georgia halftime lead.

The Saints pushed their lead right back to double-digits to open the second half and found themselves leading by 11 on a jumper by Andre Morgan less than a minute into the second period. Back-to-back jumpers from Mortan and Ryan Chester brought the Cougars all the back to tie the game however, with just 15:15 remaining in the contest.

North Georgia never trailed in the second half, and fought off a pair of two ties by the Cougars mid-way through the half. CSU even cut the Saints lead to three at 84-81 with just 2:28 on the clock, but a 10-3 run to close the game gave North Georgia a 10-point win in front of a packed house of more than 3,000.

The Saints were led by four in double figures, including a game 22 from Morgan. Anthony Rowe had the only double double of the game, scoring 19 while pulling down 10 rebounds. Xavier Trice and Pope added 16 and 15 points respectively in the win.

Columbus State (12-13, 8-7 PBC) was led by Corris Portis who scored 18 points, including a perfect 7-7 from the free throw line. Travis Matthews added 17 for the Cougars while Mortan chipped in 16 points and three blocks.

North Georgia (13-9, 8-7 PBC) will head to UNC Pembroke Saturday, February 16, for a 4:00 p.m. Peach Belt Conference match-up with the Braves.
