AUGUSTA, GA – North Georgia College & State University saw the 6th-ranked Jaguars of Augusta State put together a 33-6 run midway through the game on their to an 87-58 victory over the Saints Saturday evening in front of over 2,000 fans in Christenberry Fieldhouse.
The Saints fall to 14-11 overall and 8-11 in the Peach Belt, while the 6th-ranked Jaguars improve to 21-4 overall and 15-3 in the conference.
With the game tied 21-21 with 9:06 remaining, Augusta State went on a 20-5 run to end the half to take a 41-26 lead into intermission.
The News did not get any better for the Saints after halftime as the Jaguars opened the second period on a 23-8 run to take a 30-point lead at 64-34 with 11:48 remaining.
Augusta State led by as many as 33 points in the second half before coming away with the 87-58 victory over the Saints.
LaBrian Lyons led North Georgia with 17 points on 6-14 shooting, while Michael Moynihan was the only other player to finish in double figures, scoring 10 points in 28 minutes of action.
Fred Brathwaite led all scorers with 23 points on 9-11 shooting from the field, while Ben Madgen tallied 18 and Garrett Siler chipped in 14 points and seven blocks.
The Saints return to action at home, hosting Lander University Wednesday, February 25, for Senior Day 2009. This will be the last regular season game before the PBC Tournament begins on March 4, in Aiken, South Carolina.
