DAHLONEGA, GA – North Georgia College & State University thrilled a packed house Wednesday evening in Memorial Hall as Anthony Rowe sank a free throw with two seconds left to lift the Saints to a 64-63 victory over in-state rival Clayton State as fans stormed the court celebrating the team’s third straight victory in Peach Belt Conference action.

The Saints improve to 14-10 overall and 8-10 in the PBC, while Clayton State falls to .500 overall at 12-12 on the season and 5-12 in the league.

With the Saints up 63-60 and time running, North Georgia fouled Bernard Fields on a three-point attempt, sending the sharp shooter to the foul line who promptly knocked down all three free throws to tie the game 63-63 with nine seconds on the clock.

On the ensuing possession, LaBrian Lyons came the length of the floor and missed a running layup, but Rowe cleaned up the miss and was fouled, sending the senior to the charity stripe for two shots. After the first shot rimmed out, Rowe came through in the clutch, knocking down the second foul shot to give North Georgia a point lead.

Xavier Trice intercepted the full-court pass from the Lakers in the final seconds as the Saints came away with their eighth home win of the season.

The Saints rebounded after missing their first eight shot from behind the arc to shoot 36 percent from long range, while shooting 42.9 percent from the floor.

Andre Morgan knocked down four three-pointers to finish with 16 points, while Trice was 6-11 from the floor for 15 points.

Fields paced Clayton State with 16 points, while Ricky Garrett tallied 12 and Jacquas Dobbs chipped in 11.

The Saints will travel to Augusta State Saturday afternoon for their final road game of the regular season, taking on the 6th-ranked Jaguars at 4:00 p.m. in Cristenberry Fieldhouse.
