DAHLONEGA, GA – Senior guard LaBrian Lyons
has been named the Peach Belt Conference Men’s Basketball
Player of the Week after averaging 19.5 points in a pair of games
last week for the Saints.
Lyons turned in a pair of stellar games as the Saints went 1-1 in
a pair of road games. The senior began with 20 points, hitting all
four three-pointers, in a three-point conference loss to Francis
Marion.
He then scored 19, hitting four of six threes, in an 88-73 win at
Anderson. Lyons added five assists at FMU and five rebounds with
three assists at Anderson, giving him 19.5 points, 4.0 assists and
3.0 rebounds per game.
He hit 80% of his three-pointers and shot 52% (14-27) overall from
the field. Currently ranked in the PBC top 10 in scoring, assists,
three-pointers made and three-point percentage.
The senior picks up his first-ever PBC weekly award, and will look
to keep the Saints on track as they host Carson-Newman on December
31, 2008, in a New Years Eve Regional match up. North Georgia is
looking to improve to a perfect 6-0 in non-conference games this
season.
