DAHLONEGA, GA – The North Georgia men’s basketball team is set to play in the quarterfinal round of the Peach Belt Conference tournament this week, traveling to the University of Montevallo on Wednesday evening as the two teams go head-to-head for the third time this season.

North Georgia enters the PBC tournament at 15-12 overall and 10-7 in the league’s west division, while Montevallo edged the Saints on the final day of the regular season, sitting at 21-6 overall and 11-6 in the league.

In two meetings this season, North Georgia has held on at the buzzer, defeating the then 13-ranked Falcons 68-67 on their home court the middle of January, before a 15-0 second-half run in Memorial Hall sent the Saints to a season sweep of Montevallo with a 76-73 win on February 17.

The Saints have advanced to the PBC “Final Four” in the tournament each of the last two seasons, and will look to get back to USC Aiken Convocation Center for the final four with a third win over the Falcons this season.

The University of Montevallo was ranked the NABC Top 25 Poll for six consecutive weeks earlier in the season, rising to has high as the #13 team in the land on January 12, before the Saints came to town the next day to hand the Falcons their first loss of the season. UM play in their first-ever Peach Belt Conference tournament after entering the league this season, making the transition from the Gulf South Conference.

All PBC Tournament first-round games will be played on Wednesday, March 3, at 7:00 pm (local time). The winners of the four games will advance to the final four March 6-7 at the USCA Convocation Center in Aiken, S.C. The semifinals begin on March 6 at 6:00 with the finals on Sunday at 4:30.
