Saints Use Balanced Scoring to Bury Truett-McConnell 87-83

DAHLONEGA, GA – North Georgia escaped with an 87-83 victory over Truett-McConnell on Tuesday night, thanks to 29 points from Scott Windom at Memorial Hall.
The Saints (3-1) led by seven at the half and extended the lead to double digits before the visiting Bears clawed back to the final possession.
North Georgia saw four players in double figures, the most all season. The Saints finished 42.9 percent (27-63) from the field but just 76.5 percent (26-34) from the free throw line, allowing Truett-McConnell to hang around.
Windom led the Saints with 29 points and 12 rebounds. In his first game as a North Georgia Saint, Windom did not disappoint. The junior from Cartersville, Georgia, came out on fire and never cooled off. Windom was four of seven from three-point range, and led all players with 12 boards.
Clarence Tillman continued his impressive season scoring 21 points. This is was the third time in four games that Tillman has scored over 20 points. Tillman also led the Saints with six assists and finished with six rebounds in the game.
Pat Moynihan and Elijah Smith were the other two starters in double figures, finishing with 19 and 11 points respectively. Moynihan finished with a career-high 19 points in his first game back since playing in the Saints' first game of the season.
Truett-McConnell (4-2) was led by senior Roderick Bombard, who finished with a game-high 31 points. Bombard had a good look at a three with about 10 seconds remaining and trailing by three. The ball rimmed out and Tillman corralled the rebound and nailed the free throw to give the Saints their third win of the season.
North Georgia saw 10 players see action and pulled away down the stretch. The Saints also out rebounded the Bears 48-36.
The Saints return to action this coming Friday when they travel to Pensacola, Florida, to take part in the West Florida Thanksgiving Classic. North Georgia will play 2nd-ranked Alabama-Huntsville on Friday and host West Florida on Saturday.
