The North Georgia men’s golf team share the lead after the
first round of the 2010 St. Andrews Spring Invitational, sitting
atop the leaderboard with Lenoir-Rhyne at the Woodlake Country
Club.
North Georgia fired a school-record 302 (+14) on the Maples Course
and is deadlocked for the lead with Lenoir-Rhyne. Host St. Andrews
is three strokes back at 305 on the par-72, 6,954-yard layout.
Limestone (310) stands fourth, St. Andrews B (311) is 5th and
Barton B (313) finished 6th.
North Georgia’s Bryson Womack has the individual lead with a
one-under-par 71 as the only player in the field under par. His
round included birdies at No. 1, 12, 17 and 18. Limestone’s
Drew Sloan is second at even par while Lenoir-Rhyne’s Jason
Garrett, St. Andrews’ Jack Hunter and Barton’s Darren
Smith are tied for third at 74.
Howard Duffin sits four shots off the lead with a four-over-par 75,
while Brian Mallory is five back of the leader with a 76. Jake
Martin and Stanley Roberts both shot in the 80’s, firing an
80 and 82 respectively.
Play concludes with the final 18 holes on Sunday with a shotgun
start at 10:00 a.m.
