– The North Georgia College & State University
men’s golf team sits in 16th place in the field of 16 teams
after day one of the Lander Bearcat Classic at the par-72,
6,800-yard Greenwood Country Club.
Lander University's Davis Lee carded a 9-under-par 63 Monday
afternoon in the second round of the three-round invitational to
help Lander lead the 16-team tournament by 11 strokes at
32-under-par. Georgia College's Francisco Bide (66-70) is tied for
second, while Newberry College's Daniel Stanley (69-68) rounds out
the top five tied for fourth at 137.
Georgia College & State University sits second overall as a
team at 21-under-par, while Armstrong Atlantic is third, and
Newberry College is fourth. North Georgia is 16th at 33-over par
with a 307 in the morning round, before firing a 302 in the
afternoon for a 609.
Howard Duffin was the steady performer for the Saints on day one
with a pair of one-over-par 73’s to sit in a tie for 39th
place overall, while Brian Mallory was one-under-par in the
morning, but shot four-over-par in the afternoon to sit at 147 and
in a tie for 41st overall.
Bryson Womack fired rounds of 78 and 75 to sit at 153 overall,
while Jake Martin is at 163 in 80th place, and Ben Jarrard is at
168 in 83rd position.
The third and final round will begin at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday morning
at the par-72, 6,800-yard Greenwood Country Club.
