GREENWOOD, SC
– The North Georgia College & State University
men’s golf team took 14th in the field of 16 teams after the
final round of the Lander Bearcat Classic at the par-72, 6,800-yard
Greenwood Country Club on Tuesday afternoon.
Host Lander University shot a final round 289, but held on for a
seven shot victory, carding a 31-under-par 833 for the tournament,
while Armstrong Atlantic and Georgia College & State University
tied for second place with a 24-under-par 840. North Georgia moved
up two spots from the previous two rounds, taking 14th place with a
46-over-par 910.
Brian Mallory finished tied for 34th overall at 220, sitting at
four-over-par following a final round 73. Howard Duffin’s
final round 77 placed the junior in a deadlock for 46th place
overall at seven-over-par.
Bryson Womack finished in a tie for 53rd place overall following a
final round 73, giving him a 10-over-par 226 for the three-round
event. Jake Martin was alone in 80th place overall at 25-over-par,
while Ben Jarrard finished in a tie for 81st at 35-over-par.
Newberry’s Daniel Stanley won the event at nine-under-par,
just edging out teammate Chandler Gruenmeier at eight-under-par for
the tournament championship. Armstrong Atlantic’s Tyler
Erickson led a group of four players at seven-under-par.
North Georgia returns to action on April 12-13, 2010, at the Peach Belt Conference Tournament hosted by Columbus State University at Callaway Gardens.
