DAHLONEGA, GA – The North Georgia College
& State University men’s golf team dropped a pair of
places in the standings after the second round of action at the
Will Wilson NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Preview, shooting a
39-over par 319 to sit in 15th place in the field of 16 teams
heading into the final round Tuesday morning.
The three-round event, being played at the par-70 Tanglewood Park
Golf Club Championship Course is led by Lander University after the
second round, as the Bearcats sit atop the standings at 20-over
par. Barton College is in second place at 23-over par, while
Belmont Abbey slipped two spots to third at 26-over par.
Howard Duffin continued his consistent play, shaving two shots off
his opening round to shoot a four-over par 74, good for a tie for
27th place overall.
Matt Rochlin sits nine shots behind Duffin after the second round,
adding a 12-over par 82 to his opening round 77 to put the
sophomore in a tie for 65th place overall.
Jake Martin finished the second round with an 11-over par 81,
while Stanley Roberts followed with a 14-over par 84, putting him
in a tie for 74th place overall. Brian Mallory rounded out the
field for the Saints, adding an 82 to an opening round 83 to take
77th place overall with one round to play.
The third and final round gets underway Tuesday morning at 8:30
a.m. at Tanglewood Park Golf Club.
