DAHLONEGA, GA - Howard Duffin has been named the fall's first Moe's Southwest Grill North Georgia Athlete of the week after finishing in a third-place tie at the eighth annual Kiawah Collegiate Invitational the sports communications office announced Wednesday morning.

The senior opened his 2011-12 campaign by firing a two-under-par 70, matching his single round low from last year. Duffin followed his 70 with a one-over-par 73 jumping from fifth place into a three-way-tie for third.

Duffin's two round total of 143 helped the Saints to a tenth place finish at the 17-team field Kiawah Collegiate Invitational. As a team, North Georgia shot 39-over-par 615 (313-202). The Saints finished four shots behind ninth place USC Beaufort and three strokes ahead of 11th place Coker College.

The Wigmore, England, native and the Saints return to links Monday, September 26, as they travel to Saint Augustine, Florida, to compete in the Jay Jennison Memorial Tournament hosted by Peach Belt Conference rival Flagler College.
