DAHLONEGA, GA – The North Georgia men's golf team returned to action after a two week hiatus on Monday ,firing an aggregate score of 301 to hold the lead after the opening round of the 2012 North Georgia Spring Invitational contested at the par-72 Achasta by Reynolds.
The Saints hold a five shot lead over Peach Belt Conference foe Montevallo, with Truett-McConnell in third and Young Harris rounding out the field.
Senior Howard Duffin was the lone player in the 25 player field to shoot under par as he fired a two-under-par 70 to hold a three stroke lead over Montevallo's Joe Haupt. Grant Rish and Aaron George sit deadlocked in third place after shooting three-over-par 75's, while Montevallo's Andrew Lowry rounded out the top five.
Hunter Beach and Jake Martin are tied for 11th place after they each shot eight-over-par 80's in round one.
Freshman Will Brackett shot a nine-over-par 81 to hold a share of 14th place. Matt Rochlin shot a 10-over-par 82 to sit in a tie for 16th place and round out the scoring for the Saints.
The Saints wrap up the 2012 North Georgia Spring Invitational tomorrow, March 13, with a 9:30 shotgun start at Achasta by Reynolds.
