Men’s Golf Finishes 10th in Ninth-Annual Kiawah Island Invitational

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – The North Georgia College & State University men's golf team battled 25-30 mile per hour winds Tuesday while wrapping up the Ninth-Annual USCA/Kiawah Island Invitational in Kiawah Island, S.C. with a 10th place finish out of the 19 teams competing.

The University of South Carolina Aiken won the event with an even par of 576 while the University of North Alabama finished just one stroke behind in second. The Saints carded a 603 to finish 10th.

Will Brackett led the way in the two rounds for North Georgia with a 147 to finish in a tie for 19th following a 76 performance in the second found.

Zach Caldwell finished with a 73 in the second round following a 75 performance in the opening round to finish 23rd with a 148. Aaron George finished in a tie for 43rd (152) while Derek Watson and Austin Booker rounded out the five for the Saints with a 157 and a 162 respectively.

Shad Tuten from Armstrong Atlantic State won individual honors with a six-under par 138 that saw him record a pair of 69s.

The North Georgia men will next compete in the Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate at the Sea Trail Golf Resort in Myrtle Beach from Monday, Oct. 1 through Tuesday, Oct. 2.
