Saints to play in pair of
tournaments to open regular season
DAHLONEGA, Ga. – North Georgia College
& State University head coach Pat Parris released the 2008
schedule for the Saints soccer program this morning. The 2008
season will feature tournaments at Clayton State, Mount Olive, and
home contest against USC Aiken and Francis Marion.
“This year's schedule will test the squad physically and
mentally with great matches on the road and at home,” head
coach Pat Parris said. I believe that we should be battle tested on
the road in order to have a true success come playoff
time.”
Four teams ranked in the final 2007 NSCAA/Adidas Men's Soccer Top
25 will oppose the North Georgia men's soccer team this season. The
Saints will highlight the non-conference portion of their schedule
hosting 4th-ranked University of Montevallo on Friday, September 5,
at 5:00 p.m.
The Saints will also play some of the top teams in the region in
tournament play as they travel to Mount Olive College and Clayton
State to take on the Trojans of Mount Olive, St. Andrews, Anderson,
and Belmont Abbey in four South Atlantic Region games.
After a 3-3 mark last season in Peach Belt Conference play,
including a trip to the PBC Tournament final four, the Saints have
six conference games on the slate this season, including home
contest against USC Aiken, Clayton State, and Francis Marion. North
Georgia will also hit the road to play Lander University and UNC
Pembroke before closing out the season at Georgia Southwestern on
November 1.
“We are so excited about this schedule and look forward to
building off of last years peak,” Parris said. “Games
that we will play this year will consist of teams that will be in
out of the top 25 and ranked regionally.
