Saints Fall 2-0 to Lees-McRae in Home Opener
Dahlonega, GA - North Georgia College &
State University allowed a goal in each half, falling to Lees-McRae
College 2-0 Wednesday night in non-conference action at the soccer
complex.
Lees-McRae got on board in the 28th minute of play as Lee Squires
broke free and scored past a diving Rade Tanaskovic for the game's
first goal and Squires’ 13th of the season as David Palmer
assisted the score.
The two teams went scoreless for the rest of the half as
Lees-McRae held a 5-2 shot advantage at halftime.
The second half proved to be a stalemate until junior defender
Dale Parker worked his magic for the Bobcats and recorded his
second goal of the season in the 65th minute off a corner kick by
Kyle McGimsey to make it 2-0.
The Lees-McRae defense took over and earned it's fourth shutout of
the 2008 season. Goalkeeper Sean Paradise and North Georgia’s
Rade Tanaskovic each recorded 4 saves on the night.
The Bobcats out-shot the Saints 12-11, while North Georgia held a
9-6 advantage in corner kicks.
The Saints return to action on Friday, September 19th against the
University of Montevallo at 5:00 pm at the North Georgia Soccer
Complex.
