DAHLONEGA, Ga – After a long 2007 season, the North Georgia College & State University soccer program spread smiles in the international community.
The Saints donated various uniforms worn in previous years to former North Georgia player and Colombian player, Santiago Pinzon. With uniforms in hand, Santiago was able to make a long trip home, contact a soccer institution, and help a community with serious economic problems.
The donation was made to an institution located in San Joaquin, a small town near Santiago's hometown. San Joaquin's soccer institution is just starting, but already exported some of its talent to Argentina and hopes to keep up its good work and send various players outside Colombia to other soccer venues.
The actual donation of the uniforms was done the first week in January and accompanied by a soccer academy named Tucuman Santiago not only represented North Georgia, but helped a community in need and gave a youth team the best present they have ever had. The institution's head coach expressed his gratitude to both Santiago and North Georgia for their contribution.
