Soulen gets game winner with just 37 seconds remaining in game
Dahlonega, GA – North Georgia College & State University did the unthinkable Tuesday night, scoring twice in a 12 minute span in the second half, including a goal from Stan Soulen with 37 seconds left to escape the Pacer Pit with a 2-1 win. Bradley Rose assisted in both goals in the victory.
With a tie game heading into the last minute, overtime seemed evident, but Rose sent a ball into the middle and Soulen sent a shot under Aaron Watkin's hands and the North Georgia bench erupted.
The ball was put back in play, and 37 seconds later the Saints captured the victory and earned the right to play top seeded Clatyon State.
With time starting to run down on the Saints, Ben Chedgy sparked life back into the team with a goal in the 77th minute off a pass from Rose.
The Pacers got their goal in the 31st minute when Adam Lambert beat Saints' goalkeeper Brandon Kirksey to a loose ball and sent it to the back of the net for a 1-0 lead.
North Georgia's Kirksey picked up his eighth win of the seaon as he recorded one save, and Pacers goalkeeper Watkins picked up the loss, allowing five saves and two goals.
The Saints will head to Morrow, Ga on Friday night to take on Clayton State at 7 p.m. in the Final Four of the Peach Belt Conference Men's Soccer Tournament.
