MORROW, GA – The North Georgia men's soccer team opened the season on Friday evening, traveling to the Clayton State Laker Shootout and playing 14th-ranked Anderson University to a 0-0 double overtime tie in non-conference action.

The Saints and Trojans are now 0-0-1 on the year, as both clubs will move on to their second and final day of the Clayton State Laker Shootout on Saturday afternoon.

North Georgia will tangle with the Belmont Abbey Crusaders tomorrow at 5:00 p.m., while Anderson will go head-to-head with Clayton State in the finale of the two-day event as both clubs look to pick up their first victories of the season.

In a game full of defense, the story was all about the keepers as North Georgia's Rade Tanaskovic and Anderson's Lukas Hesse tallied nine saves apiece to keep the contest scoreless through 120 minutes of action.

The Trojans record 26 shots to North Georgia's 21, while the Saints were on the low end of a 9-3 ratio in corners.

Juan Hurtado tallied four shots overall and one on goal, while Ben Stegman recorded three shots, with two on goal during his North Georgia debut.

Anderson's Lasse Sohrweide had a game-high seven shots, but just two were on goal, while Clement Samson connected on four shots with a pair resulting in saves from Tanaskovic.

North Georgia has had 12 double overtime games in the last six years, and have a record of 2-4-6 in those games. The Saints' last double overtime tie came just a year ago on October 31, deadlocking 1-1 with UNC Pembroke in Dahlonega.
