AUGUSTA, GA – Ben Chedgy has been
named the Peach Belt Conference Defender of the Week announced
Tuesday afternoon from the league office.
The senior picks up his first-ever weekly award from the league
office after earning PBC All-Conference honors, and Preseason
All-conference awards each of the least two years.
Ben Chedgy led the North Georgia defense to a 1-0-1 record to open
the year, including blanking the 14th-ranked Anderson Trojans for
120 minutes in the Saints' season opener.
He then came back and scored his second career goal against
Belmont Abbey in the final game of the Clayton State Laker
Shootout, a golden goal in the 112th minute to send North Georgia
to their first win of the year and best start to a season since
entering the NCAA in 2005. The Somerset, England, native leads a
defense that is fourth in the league in goals allowed at 1.00 per
game.
The Saints return to action on Wednesday evening for their home
opener against Lenoir-Rhyne College at the newly renovated Soccer
Complex. Kickoff against the Bears is set for 5:00 p.m.
