MARS HILL, NC - The North Georgia men's soccer team fell 3-0 to the hands of Mars Hill on the road Saturday in non-conference action.
In their last non-conference matchup of the year, North Georgia (6-6-1) and Mars Hill (9-4) found themselves in a scoreless draw at the half.
The Mountain Lions opened the scoring in the second half when Rury Caulfield took a turnover twenty yards outside the box and finished strong to give Mars Hill the 1-0 lead.
After trading scoring opportunities with the Saints, Mars Hill added to their lead in the 72nd minute when Alex Mullen took a pass from just outside the box and finished just inside the right corner of the post.
Later in the second half, the Mountain Lions added to their lead when Isaiah Schafer finished a volley from eight yards out to give Mars Hill a 3-0 lead.
For the Saints, Max Angel led the way with two shots, while four other players added one shot on goal.
Mars Hill goalkeeper Zac Scott made five saves and recorded the shutout, while North Georgia keeper Kristopher Alonzo made three saves in his third start of the fall.
Mars Hill was given four corner kicks while the Saints were given three and the Mountain Lions outshout North Georgia 21-10.
The Saints return to the pitch on Wednesday, October 19, when they look to end their three game conference losing streak playing host to Georgia Southwestern.
