DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The North Georgia College & State University men's soccer team acquired their fourth positive result in a row Wednesday night with a 1-1 tie following a double overtime game with the Falcons of the University of Montevallo at the North Georgia Soccer Field.
The Saints improved to 5-3-1 with a 1-1-1 mark in Peach Belt Conference action while the Falcons are now 6-3-1 with a 3-1-1 record in the conference.
At half time team captain Jesy Phelps was presented with the Thomas C. Montgomery Soccer Scholarship which is given to a deserving individual who exemplifies hard work and high moral standards both on and off the pitch. The scholarship is named in memory of former Saints soccer player Tom Montgomery.
North Georgia's Tyler Daly scored the first goal of the game in the 32nd minute when Phelps played the ball off a free kick to Amin El-Shami who gave a one-touch to Daly just at the top of the box. Daly did not waste his first touch as he struck the ball into the net to give the Saints the early 1-0 lead.
Following 50 minutes of scoreless action, the Falcons' Roussin Nkoy headed the ball into the net off an assist from Shane Howard to draw Montevallo even with North Georgia on the scoreboard.
