AMERICUS, Ga. – The North Georgia College & State University men's soccer team continued to roll Saturday afternoon, defeating the Hurricanes of Georgia Southwestern University 3-0.
The win, which is the fifth positive result in a row for the Saints, improves them to 6-3-1 overall . The Hurricanes are now 1-9-1 and 0-5 in PBC action following their sixth loss in a row.
All three of the Saints' goals were scored in the opening stanza.
Jamie Gleeson wasted little time in giving North Georgia an early 1-0 lead with a header in the box in just the second minute off a pass from Juan Hurtado.
Hurtado then added a goal of his own in the 14th minute before Gustavo Cunha capped off the scoring with a goal in the 33rd minute.
The Saints out-shot the Hurricanes 20-4 in the game and held a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks. Only six of the Saints' shots were on goal while just one of the Hurricanes was on-target.
North Georgia's next contest will be at home on Wednesday, Oct. 10. Both the women and men will be in action starting at 5:00 p.m. with the men following at around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday night is being tabbed as "Spirit Night."
