Late Goal Allows Pfeiffer To Slip Past Men's Soccer Team

MORROW, Georgia – (UNGAthtletics.com) – Pfeiffer University used a late goal with under three minutes remaining in the game to sneak past the University of North Georgia men's soccer team 2-1 Saturday at the 9th Annual Loch Shop Classic hosted by Clayton State University.  The Falcons' Luke Janes slipped in a header at the 87:13 minute mark to secure the victory.

North Georgia's Amin El-Shami broke the Nighthawks' scoring drought when he used an Alexandro Martinez assist to open the game's scoring at the 10:24 mark.

Pfeiffer would equalize at the 26:41 mark when Aldo Ramirez used a helper from Kyle Toler and deposited the score in the upper right corner.

Both teams' defenses would tighten up from there with over the next 60:00 of soccer going scoreless.

North Georgia held a decisive advantage in shots 24-13 including a 16-5 buffer following intermission after both teams tallied eight shots before intermission.   Both teams were able to put seven shots on target with Pfeiffer's Nicolas Dulac gathering six saves while UNG's Kris Alonzo recorded five stops.

The loss is North Georgia's fourth consecutive after a season-opening victory as the Nighthawks fall to 1-4 on the season.  UNG returns to action on September 18 when the team travels to Hickory, N.C. to take on Lenoir-Rhyne College in a non-conference tilt.
