DAHLONEGA, GA – Sam Moore has been named to the Peach Belt Conference All-Academic Team announced last week by the conference office. Moore receives the honor after his third season in the Peach Belt Conference.

The team is part of a new season-long program recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of PBC student-athletes in the classroom as well as on the court.

Sam Moore earns second-team honors after recorded five wins in singles play, all coming at the #2 spot, and nine wins in doubles play during the 2009 season.  The junior played the #1 spot on three different occasions.  Moore is a Physics major with an overall GPA of 3.80. 

North Georgia went 6-14 overall during the 2009 season, posting a 1-7 mark in Peach Belt Conference play. The Saints put a string together of four wins in five matches during the year, defeating Missouri Vally, Piedmont College, Carson-Newman, and Georgia Southwestern during a 19-day period.

To be eligible for the All-Academic team, a student athlete must participate in at least half of their team’s events, achieve a 3.2 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale, and have completed at least one full academic year at their current institution. The Peach Belt Conference Sports Information Directors nominated and voted on the selected teams.
