DAHLONEGA, GA – North Georgia College
& State University head tennis coach Kent Norsworthy has
announced the addition of three student athletes for the 2009-10
season. The men’s team will be joined by Parker LaSure, while
the women’s team will welcome Matilda Watson and Jordan
Poole.
“All three of the players we signed early are going to fit
into our program perfectly,” head coach Kent Norsworthy said
of the incoming players. They all come from great families and have
a passion for the game.”
The men’s team went 6-14 overall during the 2009 season,
posting a 1-7 mark in Peach Belt Conference play. The Saints put a
string together of four wins in five matches during the year,
defeating Missouri Vally, Piedmont College, Carson-Newman, and
Georgia Southwestern during a 19-day period.
The women’s team went 6-18 overall last season and 1-9 in
the Peach Belt Conference. The Lady Saints picked up their only
conference victory on the road, defeating Georgia Southwestern
7-2.
“Parker LeSure also will be joining our team and has already
become friends with the guys on the team. Parker will easily make
the transition from juniors to college tennis. He plays with a no
fear attitude and I think he will make our team better.”
“I think that Matilda and Jordan will come in and impact our
team immediately. Matilda has a nice all around game and I think
she will really get better and better here. Jordan Plays a powerful
game and has great court presence.”
