COLUMBUS, GA – The North Georgia men's tennis team went up against another top-10 team on Sunday afternoon, falling 9-0 at 9th-ranked Columbus State University in Peach Belt Conference action at the Mary V. Blackon Tennis Center.
The Saints fall to 3-3 overall on the season and remain winless at 0-2 on the year in Peach Belt Conference action, while the Cougars improve to 7-1 overall and 1-1 in the league action.
In doubles play, the 12th-ranked tandem of Christophe Noblet and Gordan Divljak defeated Brandon Sloan and Felipe Friedrich 8-4 at No. 1, while Pasqual Duttlinger and Andre Mordhorst took down Mateus Camasmie and Adrian Saulais 8-5 at No. 2 doubles. Filip Cojbasic and Martin Shishkov rounded out the doubles sweep for the Cougars, taking down Giovani Santos and Ernesto Farinas 8-1.
In singles action, the Saints were not able to pull out a set as No. 52 Noblet had the toughest match taking down Friedrich 7-5 and 6-1. Divljak posted a 6-3 and 6-4 win over Camasmie. Duttlinger blanked Santos 6-0 and 6-0 while Mordhorst won 6-4 and 6-2 versus Saulais. Both Shishkov and Danilo Sardelli posted 6-1 and 6-0 wins to close out the match.
The Saints return to action on Wednesday afternoon, traveling to 12th-ranked Georgia College for another Peach Belt Conference match. First serve against the Bobcats is set for 2:00 p.m. at the Centennial Center Tennis Complex.
