Saints Run by Mountain Lions for 8-1 Victory
DAHLONEGA, GA – The North Georgia men's tennis team put an end to a five-match slide on Tuesday afternoon, taking down Young Harris College for the second time this season with an 8-1 victory at the Yahoola Creek Tennis Complex.
The Saints, ranked 18th in the latest ITA Southeast Region poll, improve to 7-9 on the season, while the Mountain Lions remain winless at 0-14 on the year.
With only four players competing, Young Harris dropped No. 3 doubles, No. 5 singles, and No. 6 singles by default, giving the Saints a commanding lead before the matched started.
North Georgia wrapped up the victory in doubles play as Felipe Friedrich and Mateus continued to dominate at No. 1 doubles, blanking Martin Harach and Gabriel Oliveria 8-0 in the first contested match of the day.
Brandon Sloan and Adrien Saulais made it a clean sweep of doubles, taking out Keon Gottenbos and Taylor Hamala 8-4 to give the Saints a decisive 5-0 lead.
With four singles matches competing, Camasmie pulled out a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 1 doubles, while Ernesto Farinas found himself locked into a three-set thriller, but came out on top 6-1, 5-7, 13-11.
David Konigsberg fell 6-0, 4-6, 10-5 to Gottenbos for the only Young Harris point of the day, while Andy McMaster took care of business at No. 4 singles, winning 6-2, 4-6, 14-12 to give the Saints their final point of the day in an 8-1 victory.
North Georgia returns to action on Thursday afternoon, traveling to Berry College to battle the Vikings in a non-conference showdown. First serve is set for 2:30 p.m. at Richards Tennis Complex.
