DAHLONEGA, GA – The North Georgia men's tennis team dropped a pair of close matches on Saturday afternoon on their way to a 5-4 defeat at the hands of Georgia Southwestern in Peach Belt Conference action.
The Saints fall to 8-10 overall on the year and 0-9 in the Peach Belt Conference, while the Hurricanes improve to 6-13 overall and 1-7 in league play. North Georgia continues to be on the brink of some close victories, as they drop their fourth 5-4 decision of the year, with three of those coming in PBC action.
North Georgia managed to pull out a point at No. 1 doubles as Felipe Friedrich and Mateus Camasmie toppled Pinones-Haltenhof and Matt Vansant 8-4, while the Hurricanes edged the Saints 9-7 and 8-6 at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles respectively.
Friedrich and Camasmie continued their good work in singles play, picking up wins in straight sets at the top two spots, while Adrien Saulais captured a 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (7-3) victory at No. 4 singles. The victory by Saulais would be the Saints' final point of the day however, falling 5-4 on the road.
The Saints return to action on Tuesday afternoon, traveling to Erskine College to battle the Flying Fleet in non-conference action. First serve is set for 2:00 p.m. in Due West, South Carolina.
