Saints Ground Falcons with 9-0 Win on the Road

MISENHEIMER, NC – The North Georgia men's tennis team won their second straight contest on Thursday afternoon shutting out Pfeiffer 9-0 at the Knapp Tennis Center.

The victory was the second straight for the Saints (2-1) and the third loss in the last four contests for the Falcons (2-3).

The Saints dominated the Falcons losing only one set over the nine matches.

The shutout was the first for the Saints since they raced past Erskine last April.

In doubles action, Felipe Friedrich and Mateus Camasmie beat Ben Hunter and Sebastian Wernecke 8-1 at No. 1.

In No. 2 doubles, Rodrigo Magan and Mathew Guida handled Luis Villalta and Orlando Castillo 8-4, while Giovani Santos and Brandon Sloan defeated Ethan Lyon and Diego Oliveira 8-4 in No. 3 doubles.

In singles action, all but one of the North Georgia's victories came in straight sets.

Friedrich and Magan each raced to 6-4, 6-1 victories at No. 1 and No. 2 singles respectively.

Guida had a come-from-behind victory over Villalta at No. 3 singles as he won 2-6, 6-2, 6-1.

Santos and Sloan each coasted to 6-1, 6-0 victories at No. 4 and No. 6 singles, while Mario Mesquita earned his first victory of the year taking down Oliveira 6-1, 6-2 in No. 5 doubles.

The Saints return to action on Monday, February 13, when they travel to South Carolina to take on Newberry College.
