DAHLONEGA, GA – With inclement weather expected to cover the North Georgia Mountains much of Sunday afternoon, today's tennis matches against Augusta State have been cancelled.
The Saints and Lady Saints were set to host the Jaguars in a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader, but the match has been cancelled and will be rescheduled at a later date.
An announcement on the make up date of the match will be made on Monday afternoon.
The Saints and Lady Saints will now turn their attention to a Tuesday afternoon meeting with Brevard College at the North Georgia Tennis Complex. First serve against the South Atlantic Conference member is set for 2:30 p.m.
The North Georgia men's tennis squad is off to their best start in program history since entering the NCAA Division II ranks in 2006 and are on the brink of earning their first-ever national ranking.
The Saints dropped their first match of the season to Shorter, but since then have won 10 of 11 contests, with their only other defeat coming at the hands of 3rd-ranked Armstrong Atlantic.
North Georgia has also knocked off some stellar competition along with the way, including a 5-4 thriller over 11th-ranked Flagler College on the road in St. Augustine, Florida.
The Lady Saints need to get back on track this week as they are riding a six-game losing streak dating back to a 9-0 loss to Brenau College on February 15.
The women's team will look to return to early season form where they won their first four matches of the year, all coming on the road.
