Matheus Guida Named Peach Belt Conference Men's Tennis Preseason All-Conference

MARTINEZ, Georgia – (UNGAthletics.com) – University of North Georgia men's tennis standout Matheus Guida has been tabbed as a Peach Belt Conference Men's Tennis Preseason All-Conference selection as released this morning by the conference office.  The six players on the team were selected by the league's head coaches and represent five PBC schools.  Armstrong Atlantic State leads the way with two selections to the team while Lander, North Georgia, Georgia Regents and Columbus State have one each.

Guida was named PBC All-Conference in 2013 after going 10-6 in singles play.  The junior from Sao Paulo, Brazil, went 13-5 in doubles action with four wins over nationally-ranked opponents.

Guida and teammate Mateus Camasmie are ranked #15 nationally in doubles to begin the 2014 season.  In addition to the national ranking with Camasmie, Guida entered the initial Southeast region singles rankings at 11th.   In the doubles rankings, Guida/Camasmie are ranked 6th in the Southeast region.

"Matheus has set up his upcoming season with strong play from last year and earlier this fall," stated head coach Kent Norsworthy. "We expect him to have another wonderful year in 2014. Receiving this honor will humble Matheus and motivate him to work hard this season to achieve more."

North Georgia opens the 2014 season on Saturday (Feb. 1) with a non-conference home match with Erskine College.  First serves are set for 1:00 PM at the UNG Tennis Complex at Yahoola Creek Park.
