Rifle Team Takes Southeastern Competition
DAHLONEGA, GA – The North Georgia College
& State University rifle team competed at the Southeastern
Rifle League Competition last Saturday and came away with a team
victory, outlasting four other schools, while freshman Evan
Bouchard captured the individual title.
The competition also served as the Southeastern Intercollegiate
Sectionals. Sectionals are contested at selected venues around the
country, with the combined results serving as an indoor national
championship. The combined results are then used as the NCAA
Championship selections.
The individual competition came down to the wire as the top four
spots were all separated by seven points or less out of a possible
600 total points. Bouchard’s 556 points took home top honors,
while junior Nick Anderson followed his teammate in fourth
place.
North Georgia also pulled out a victory in the tightly contested
team event as the Saints prevailed by an 18-point margin out of a
possible 2,400 points. Freshmen Caitlyn Wells and Becca Bryan led
North Georgia to victory.
North Georgia returns to action on Saturday, February 28,
traveling to Anniston, Alabama, for a league match hosted by the
Civilian Marksmanship Program. The Saints will then travel to the
Citidal a week later for the league championship.
