DAHLONEGA, GA – The North Georgia rifle team continued their strong fall campaign Saturday morning, hosting a handful of NCAA Division I schools and taking third place in the fourth SEARC event of the 2009-10 season.
NC State stayed perfect of the season, capturing the victory with 2,295 air rifle points, while the Citadel men were second with 2,220 points and North Georgia was third with 2,201 points. Wofford took fourth, followed by the Citadel women, and Mercer University rounded out the field in sixth place with 1,988 total points.
Matt Parsons led North Georgia with 559 points in the air rifle event, recording a 97 and a pair of 95's in his round. Tori Kostecki had a 96 and two 95's on her way to a 558, just one point shy of Parson.
Thomas Pifer and Becca Bryan rounded out the scoring for North Georgia as the duo combined to shoot 549 and 535 respectively for the Saints' 2,201 total points.
In the individual race was won by NC State as the Wolfpack as the squad took the top three spots in the event. Will Teller recorded a 578, while Kat Seigert and Rachael Jones recorded scores of 576 and 575 respectively to round the events top three scores. Parsons was 10th overall in the event, while Kostecki was right behind her teammate in 11th place.
North Georgia returns to action on November 21, 2009, traveling to Columbus State University for a Thanksgiving Classic against the Cougars.
