SPARTANBURG, SC – North Georgia was led by Cadet Matt Parsons who posted a personal best score for the season with a 568/600 to lead the Saints in a tight Southeastern Rifle Conference match on Saturday at Wofford College.
Parsons finished second in the SEARC 4 event, a mere two points behind the winning score.
The competition was plagued by a number of range and match operational issues. Despite this, Cadet Parsons, team captain Becca Bryan, and nearly every member of the team were able to maintain their season averages.
When the dust settled, North Georgia, Clemson, and the combined Citadel team all finished within 10 points of each other in the 2400-point team aggregate. Citadel was first, Clemson was seven points behind, and the Saints finished three points behind them. North Georgia defeated Wofford and Georgia Military College in the competition.
In the NCAA competition, the Saints took second out of the four-team field, falling just behind the Citadel men's team, and beating Citadel women's and Wofford College.
Up next for the North Georgia rifle teams is a trip to Columbus State, where they will go up against the University of Memphis. That event will come this Saturday.
